Why Steam shows September 16

Open the Steam store page and the Release Date field says Sep 16, 2026.

That is not a delay. Steam converts the unlock time to your local time zone, so North America lands on September 16.

The publisher announcement says September 17 worldwide. Both statements are correct.

Which one should you trust? The time on your own store page.

The thing that actually decides when you can start playing is your store’s localized unlock moment, not the date in a press release.

What that “Planned Release Date” line means

Before unlock, Steam uses “Planned Release Date” as a placeholder and writes it as a relative time, like “plans to unlock in approximately less than an hour.”

That is store template copy. It is not the publisher changing the date, and it is not a second delay.

The same thing happens on the official site: the Preorder Now button may not switch to Buy the moment the game goes live. Refresh.

What actually shipped

This is a full remake of 2006’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC.

Not a remaster. Not a port. The publisher’s wording is “full remake”; the official site calls it a “modern reimagining.”

The visuals are 3D. Combat became a real-time and turn-based hybrid. Voice acting expanded from battle-only lines to the entire script.

There is a first-week discount

Steam has 10% off in the first week: $59.99 down to $53.99, ending September 23, 2026.

If you would rather try before buying

The demo went live on August 19, 2026. It is free on three platforms, covers the prologue through the end of Chapter 1, and runs about ten hours by the official figure.

What to do next depends on one thing

You have played 1st Chapter (the remake or the original FC):

1. Buy it. Loading your save unlocks the Classic Style SC costumes for Estelle and Joshua. No preorder needed, only a clear save.
2. If you want everything in one purchase, take Digital Deluxe at $79.99. That is the base game plus the Season Pass.

You have never touched this series:

1. Play the free 1st Chapter demo first. The official site opens with a spoiler warning for a reason.
2. Without the previous game, the thread of Estelle searching for Joshua loses about half its weight. Three of four reviews named this as the biggest mark against the game.
3. You can still start here. There is a story recap at the top. The experience just costs you something.

What the publisher has not said

Exact unlock times per platform are not published. This site will not invent them.

Physical delivery depends on your retailer. The collector’s edition is produced on a rolling basis, so late orders arrive after launch.
